How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Hale Community Centre Fridge & Cupboard

Farnham, UK

The Hale Community Centre is a community resource that provides a range of services, Including a Community Fridge & Cupboard. We aim to re-distribute unwanted edible food from local businesses and individual households, which can then be taken by anyone who wants to get involved with the project. This prevents the food going to waste and into landfill. We would like to become a part of the community and bring people together, whilst looking after our environment.

The Alex Acheampong Foundation Food Bank is a UK-based, community-led initiative operating primarily in Farnborough, Hampshire, with a core mission to support individuals and families living in Rushmoor and surrounding areas. serving residents facing hardship, crisis, or social isolation. Our services are delivered weekly from Mayfield Community Centre, where we provide free food parcels in a welcoming, respectful environment. We do not currently offer a delivery service, all food is collected onsite. Visitors are also invited to enjoy afternoon tea, friendly conversation, and access to practical essentials such as toiletries and baby items when available. We work closely with and support several UK-based groups, including the Farnborough ESOL Team (supporting Nepali nationals), Rushmoor Young Carers, and homeless or sheltered residents in Aldershot. The food bank is expanding to accept fresh, ambient, and frozen food items, helping to reduce waste through partnerships with local food suppliers. While all food is currently funded directly by our trustees through charitable contributions, we are actively seeking UK-based partnerships with supermarkets and retailers to sustain our growing service. Referrals are accepted from UK schools, health professionals, social workers, housing officers, and self-referring individuals. We are committed to ensuring every visitor is treated with dignity, kindness, and without judgment. Our work has been recognised locally, receiving positive Google reviews, an endorsement from Julia Tedeschi (ESOL Team), and a 5-star food hygiene rating from Rushmoor Borough Council in June 2025.
