Sainsbury's Penrith

We are a small village Church of England primary school, just outside Penrith. We use the products we receive to support families from the local community, including parents and carers from our school. We also send out messages to members of the community so that they can access these donations too. The scheme operates from the entrance to school. We have identify disadvantaged pupils through our pupil premium strategy and through our won vulnerability indicator scale however all families and members of the wider community are invited to access donations. We appreciate many of our families work several jobs and have been hit by the cost of living crisis and the neighbourly scheme can bring a little relief to help support families at this time. We also pay for a fareshare tray each week. Both food donations make up our food bank - the nearest food bank is over 7 miles way and not accessible for our families. Our location means that many families suffer an additional rural poverty and isolation from key services. We do not charge for any donations. Some people choose to leave a small donation but there is no cost and no expectation of this. Any donations left are paid directly into school fund which support disadvantaged pupils in being able to access wider opportunities such as school trips and residentials. We have worked with the Victoria Institute Community Cafe to support our work and a local well-being group, 'Men in Sheds' are hoping to build a shed at the front of school so we can better store donations on collection day. Our school does a range of community work, including fundraising for the local play-park facilities, litter picking, attending the Youth Climate Conference and working on global issues. We also support a small community in Ghana, called Ankoma. We help to fund school places for children. We work with Diff-ability to support parents who have children with Down's syndrome and support World Down Syndrome Day. We support Children in Need each year and other similar charity events. Our school have been recognised for the part in plays in raising children to be active in their community, demonstrating courageous advocacy and personal development in a recent Ofsted report "The school goes above and beyond the expected in ensuring that pupils have every opportunity to develop individual interests and talents such as sports, cookery and farming. Pupils make a real difference to their community, for example by clearing and tidying the village’s recreation area so that families can participate in sports events together. Pupils participate in voluntary work through programmes such as The Archbishop of York’s Young Leaders Award. These experiences help to develop pupils’ character and confidence, and prepare them very well for the next stage in their education." North Lakes School in Penrith is a Community Primary School with 199 children on roll (July 2023) We are a happy, welcoming and very inclusive school where we teach pupils to be reflective and resilient learners. Childhood is a very special time so we aim to make school life an experience which is stimulating, meaningful, memorable and fun. The education of each child includes not only their academic achievement, but their social, moral, spiritual, creative, emotional and physical development. We would be delighted to join neighbourly for the benefit of our wonderful pupils, to provide them with additional resources for the school day, and for our wrap around care facilities. As school budgets deplete, it is essential for us to be part of the wider community, to work together to utilise any spare resources from local businesses. Thank you.

Dreamscheme delivers youth work in aspatria. we currently have over 150 members aged 11yrs - 19yrs, one full time worker, 6 sessional workers and eight volunteers. we are open 5 days a week & occassional weekends. We provide access to activities and training which develop a variety of skills, empowering young people to realize their potential as individuals. Rainbow Room by aspatria dreamscheme - we are a community Food pantry who have been providing food for our town for donations since the pandemic and are still continuing to grow.
