We are volunteers who run a community garden and have just received a community fridge to help reduce food surplus waste. We would like to be added to the scheme which supplies charities like ours with surplus foods from supermarkets

At Hope Harbour Belfast, we are a 100% volunteer-led grassroots organisation that has spent nearly 14 years providing a vital frontline lifeline across the city. Our long history of service has allowed us to build deep trust on the streets, transforming our grassroots movement into an established pillar of crisis support in the community. Operating out of our main hub at the Love2Serve kitchen within the Newtownabbey Methodist Mission, our core mobile and static street outreach runs 3 nights a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday). However, our dedication goes far beyond a schedule; our team remains on call 7 days a week to rapidly respond to emergency calls and ensure no hungry person is left without a meal. We support rough sleepers, families in temporary accommodation, and individuals facing severe poverty, reaching over 250 people each week—95% from Belfast, alongside crisis users travelling from across Northern Ireland, Ireland, and the UK. Our extensive history and trusted community footprint have been widely recognised in the local press, including features on Belfast Live and a BBC News report on local hostels. Because we receive no government funding and pay zero wages, our survival relies entirely on community generosity. We are seeking surplus food, volunteer support, and financial grants from Neighbourly to keep our kitchen fueled and our mobile units running. We operate a strict zero-waste policy; any surplus items we cannot immediately use for direct street outreach are actively redistributed to other critical programs right inside the Methodist Mission network, including Hope's Shop, the local Food Bank, and the Tiny Tots program, maximizing the impact of every single donation we receive. Newtownabbey Methodist Mission is a registered Charity and we work alongside them very much in all aspects of our work. We class this as our base although we travel around Belfast City Cetntre serving free food toiletries and clothing to people in need.

We provide a free debt counselling service for people who are struggling with unmanagable debt. We visit clients in their own homes, which means that our service can be accessed by anyone. We will help anyone regardless of their religious beliefs, age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We are based at Greenisland Baptist church and our CAP Centre covers the Greenisland, Carrickfergus and Whitehead area. We currently collect food from M&S, Sainsbury's, Lidl and Tesco. This food is then distributed in hampers to our clients and also at our Community Fridge in the courtyard at Greenisland Baptist church from 10am to 12 noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our service users for Christians Against Poverty (CAP) come through self referal on our freephone number 0800 328 0006. Our community fridge is open to everyone in our community. Our service to both CAP and the community fridge is completely free. We advertise the community fridge every week via our church Facebook page and we advertise the work of cap through local community magazines and local press so that more people are aware of what we do. We also work in partnership with the local Trussell Trust Foodbank in Carrickfergus. We give them lots of referrals of people who need more than we can provide at our community fridge and they also referr people to us who need more support with unmanagable debt issues.
