This project supports the fantastic work that Palmer House does for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. I have been collecting food for this purpose for some ten years! Based in Croydon, Palmer House supports 60 single people up to 65 years of age with complex needs including experience of homelessness or rough sleeping, substance misuse and mental ill health. Customers are referred to Palmer House by the London Borough of Croydon and stay up to two years. The charity empowers them to make decisions about their support, including choosing their Support Worker. This person centred approach enables customers to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. The team at Palmer House believes customers can move beyond their current support needs and achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities. Whilst at Palmer House, customers engage in developing life and independent living skills including developing routine and structure, fostering positive relationships, healthy eating and cooking.

REHOBOTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH CLUB located 1-18 Allwood Close, Sydenham SE26 4JP is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1168822. Rehoboth Community Outreach club started reaching out to vulnerable families in 2013, offering befriending, parenting & life skills training. Over time the services evolved expanding to offer mentoring to young people, employment skills training and a food bank. In March 2014 Rehoboth started receiving requests for support with addressing the increasing issue of food poverty amongst the single homeless living in hostels and the local street homeless, this saw the launch of the Community Lunch Club. Initially the lunch club was feeding 20 people every Monday with a 2 course hot meal. But this number quickly grew to 150 people a week when Rehoboth partnered with Miriam Lodge providing meals to their most vulnerable homeless residents. The partnership has expanded and Rehoboth community outreach club “The Lunch Club” now deliver 200 meals every Monday across 2 hostels. In addition, we have some homeless people living locally in the community who walk-in and collect their meals. The feeding programme also provides a soup social, with home cooked vegetable and chicken soup with rolls to the residents in the hostels on a Friday. The generosity of our local donors business and others in neighbouring community, with financial donations from the church membership and individuals, make it possible to provide our services free to vulnerable individuals and families. The community outreach service is facilitated by a team of 25 volunteers who cook, serve food, clean, deliver the meals, and provide the befriending, mentoring and training activities. Rehoboth hopes to double its feeding programme to 300 meals a week by the end of 2018; to support at least 50 homeless people to capacity build their employment and life skills, enhancing their potential of accessing employment, education and training opportunities. The Rehoboth Community Outreach Club aims are to contribute to breaking the generational cycle of poverty and deprivation within families, inspire hope & healing in the heart and soul of vulnerable individuals and communities and encourage peace, unity and respect across generations. We seek and appreciate further financial, time and resource donations that enable us to meet our vision of UK communities free from food poverty and benefiting from sustained upward social and economic mobility for everyone. LONELINESS, ISOLATION AND HUNGER HAVE NO POST-CODE BOUNDARIES! RMUK Food and Well-being First, deliver emergency food support to extremely vulnerable and at-risk households in Lewisham, Lambeth, and Southwark. We deliver fresh fruits vegetables, culturally appropriate foods to African and Caribbean households and the wider community. We then follow up individual requests for support by offering a listening ear, signposting to the right local organization, or source items that are needed. We are a friendly socially distanced, befriending service and offer care and kindness to those who are lonely, isolated, and just want a short conversation. Before COVID 19, we organized family fun days, educational exhibitions, film nights, trips out, cooking, and various educational workshops. We have moved most of these to online for now and people having a great time meeting new friends, socializing, and feeling more engaged. https://gofund.me/2052e97b During this Covid pandemic, some food prices increased, and this has put a strain on members of our community and those who care for other family members. There are several groups of people who are at a greater risk of vitamin D deficiency during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Our volunteers are magnificent! Each week they lovingly compile and then deliver groceries, toiletries, books, toys, and flowers to our service users.
