The Brailsford Benefice, with its five churches spanning Brailsford, Shirley, Osmaston, Yeaveley, and Edlaston, serves a diverse and widespread rural community. "Neighbourly collections" would significantly benefit this benefice and its communities in several ways: Strengthening Community Bonds Across Villages: With five distinct church locations, a "neighbourly collections" initiative would naturally encourage interaction and collaboration between the different villages. This shared purpose—collecting for a common good—would foster a stronger sense of unity and inter-village support, moving beyond just shared Sunday communion to shared practical action. Addressing Diverse Needs: Each of the five communities within the benefice might have slightly different needs or areas where residents could use a helping hand. Neighbourly collections, whether for food banks, school supplies, or even specific local projects, could be tailored to address these varied requirements effectively. This allows the benefice to demonstrate its commitment to tangible community support. This reinforces our mission to serve "life in all its fullness" for everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs. We are a foodbank charity covering the Ashbourne and local village areas. We rely on donations to support people and families through tough financial times. We offer an ear and practical help as well as food support. We have been here since 2011 and seen a steady increase in clients. During the last 18 months our clients have quadrupled in number. Yet we continued to distribute food support twice a week and are continually grateful and overwhelmed with the donations from local residents and businesses.

We also have our own in-house Citizens Advice service to support clients with the issues which lead them to need to use a foodbank. Clients can be referred to us by a wide variety of referral agents, or can self refer. We can then work with them and our CA advisor to identify their needs above and beyond a food parcel. Our services are completely free of charge to all of our clients.
