How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Purfleet Food Project

King's Lynn, UK

We are aiming to make sure that people can come in and eat at least two meals a day. We have an experienced cook who works with a team of volunteers to produce nutritious meals from food donations. We also run a project called Purfleet Pantry where people can join our membership club to be part of a scheme giving them access to cooking lessons, health and nutrition sessions and weekly grocery parcels. We are aiming to eradicate food poverty amongst our clients and the wider community and to provide coaching around nutrition, health and well-being.

King's Lynn Night Shelter

King's Lynn, UK

The King’s Lynn Night Shelter is a partnership between churches, charities and agencies in King’s Lynn who are motivated by a common concern for the plight of the homeless in the borough. The project aims to provide a safe, warm place overnight for those who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets or in unsafe accommodation. We believe in providing a high quality and compassionate service to our guests, some of whom are likely to have a range of support needs, such as alcohol dependency and mental health issues. The shelter ran as a pilot project on Friday and Saturday nights in the winter of 2017-18 and following the success of this scheme expanded to a 7 nights a week, 5 month winter shelter for the winters of 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21. We are currently in our seventh season and are operating as a 24-hour shelter. all of our guests are accommodated in single rooms, which they can access throughout the day, and are offered 1-to-1 support work, tailored to their specific needs. We are dependent on the generosity of our benefactors, donors and volunteers and would love to hear from anyone who is able to support us or would like to be involved in this project.
