How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

The Chesham Community Fridge project is run under the auspices of Kings Church Chesham in conjunction with the Hubbub Foundation. It is a non-profit charity project that aims to redistribute surplus food to the general community that would otherwise become food waste. It aims to relieve pressures on household food budgets; provide a community area that fosters sharing and collaboration; reduce local business food waste; and raise public awareness around this food issue. The project will be run indefinitely and funded through grants and donations. Find us at "The Courtyard" Broadway Baptist Church, Chesham on Wednesday and Saturday mornings 10-12noon. To date over 90 Tons of surplus food have been redistributed! Thank you Neighbourly for your contributions!

Cocoon

Hemel Hempstead, UK

Cocoon is a substance misuse charity based in Hertfordshire. Our objective is to change the future for people who are, or could be, affected by substance misuse. We achieve this through Addiction Treatment, Housing Solutions, Education and Training. We educate people on substances and their effects in order to drive prevention and stop issues relating to substance misuse happening in the future. For those already affected by substance misuse, we provide a detox, recovery and housing service which supports clients (and their family and friends) on their journey. Once in recovery we help people develop skills and confidence to enable them to find work experience and follow the path of reintegration back to a community. Alongside our residential detox and rehab, we have specialist services where we work with vulnerable client groups to help them find safe and secure housing, to rebuild their lives and work through their recovery. These groups include women fleeing domestic violence who are struggling with substance misuse as a result of their trauma, ex-offenders needing accommodation and entrenched street homeless. We aim to provide all these individuals the space and support they need to help them overcome their past, find the root cause of their trouble and re-establish a life free of suffering. We provide an affordable counselling service for adults in Hertfordshire. Our counselling is not limited to those struggling with substances, we are here to help people in the community who need support with their mental health but are struggling to find or afford it.

All Together Community CIC

Chalfont Saint Giles, UK

All Together Community is a Community Interest company based in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. We provide groups for older people to reduce isolation and loneliness and have been providing food parcels to local people throughout COVID. We are about to open a Community fridge, that will also be based in Chalfont St Giles. The aims of the fridge are to reduce food waste and to ensure everyone can have access to fresh food. We hope to collect surplus food from supermarkets and redistribute to the community. We will be open on Wednesday and Saturday so food would need to be collected the evening before.
