Looprun is a response division and part of an independent social enterprise called Glass Mill Social Enterprise C.I.C. There is no charge whatsoever to service users. This is a free and confidential service. Looprun is providing assistance with food, toiletries, baby essentials, brand new clothing and pet food. As all members in the household matters and that includes pets too. This is more than food and Looprun is part of a platform to help people back on their feet called RSBA1 (Response, Sustain, Build, Achieve). We have a 94% success rate in people achieving this. This is how service users are identified. R- Response (Access to free essentials resources) S- Sustainability (Budgeting support) B- Build (Access to over 4,000 free online courses and 11 million career opportunities) We have had over 12,500 people attend our courses. On average this is 500 a month. A- Achieve (Kick starting their vision) Whatever you can do is turned into a grateful donation to a neighbour in need. As everything given and everybody counts. No food is banked providing a direct in and out service. Looprun believes if the food is stored then a person in need is not getting any food, hence we provide an instant response and instant impact service. Looprun food donations can include fresh fruit, vegetables, bakery items and non perishables. Looprun has access to professional volunteers who carry out a confidential support service to people in need. From homeless shelters, hostels, sheltered housing, care homes and schools. This is a non voucher, free and confidential service. This means Looprun can reach more people in need with your food donations. Therefore we need your help to ensure we can supply the demand in this crisis. Anyone that receives a Looprun bag of essential food items is sustained thus creating a loop cycle. We, therefore, are a platform for a voice to be heard in the community and share life changing stories. It would be great to have more partners become part of these stories in your local community. Supporting communities through selfless service The Luton Sikh Soup Kitchen is an organisation sponsored by Guru Nanak Gurdwara Luton. It is a community-based project taken from the concept of ‘LANGAR’ created by the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Langar is a community kitchen of a gurdwara, which serves meals to all free of charge, regardless of religion, caste, gender, economic status, or ethnicity. People sit on the floor and eat together, and the kitchen is maintained and serviced by Sikh community volunteers. Vision No one should go hungry! Food is the vital first step in helping homeless people towards a better future. Without The Luton Sikh Soup Kitchen many of those that use the service would struggle to afford everyday essentials, like a hot meal. We aim to provide 10,000 hot meals a year, Hot food is a lifeline to our most vulnerable visitors, many of whom suffer from mental illness, physical disability, drug and alcohol misuse, or are rough sleepers. Make a Difference We rely heavily on food donations, and without the help of both local and regional donations, as well as large donators such as the great help we get from local businesses we would not be able to continue to produce the number of meals that we do. Every day, people go hungry in the UK for all kinds of reasons, from changes and delays in the benefits system to redundancy to receiving an unexpectedly large bill for a major repair. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. Food donations Non-perishable in-date food is donated by the public at places across the local community, such as schools,churches and businesses, as well as supermarket collection points. It is then sorted and packed into boxes by volunteers, ready to be given to people in need. Food vouchers Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, schools and social workers identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher. They can exchange this voucher for a foodbank parcel of three days’ nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food. The help we give… Our foodbanks offers a lot more than food. Our volunteers offer a listening ear to clients over a warm drink, and signpost people to other charities and agencies who can help resolve the underlying cause of the crisis. There are many ways to help The Trussell Trust as a volunteer from helping at collection points, to stock-taking and audits, to helping us refurbish our premises. We can continue supporting people in crisis thanks to passionate people giving their time to help their hungry neighbours.
