Dynamic is a Centre for children and young people with disabilities in Wrexham, North Wales. We currently provide a range of services for children, young people (aged 8 – 25) and their families, who live within the County of Wrexham. We have been in operation for over 25 years and the young people who access our services may have physical or learning disabilites, sensory impairments, additional learning needs or life limiting illnesses. We currently provide: Dynamic Groups Fortnightly social groups which provide a range of activities and opportunities for the children or young person, whilst also providing a short break for the parents/carers. Dynamic Friends Twice weekly social groups for young adults who are not in education or employment and need an opportunity during the day to socialise and put their life skills into practise. Dynamic Signing Sensations A BSL Signing Choir who practise twice a week and perform in the local community at events. Dynamic Voice A participation group for young people who wish to have their views on issues that matter to them, both locally and nationally. Dynamically Empowered A time-limited advocacy service providing 1:1 support, empowering the young person to have their voice to be heard on issues that are specific to them. Dynamic Transition Service A time-limited transition service providing 1:1 support on key areas they need to develop their skills, such as transport training, preparing for a change in educaiton and building their self-confidence, independence and resilience. Whilst we do receive some funding to provide some of these services, we still need to find more than £200k per year to deliver all that we do. We rely heavily on the generosity of others to be able to keep our doors open and support so many young people and families. We currently have over 120 young people accessing our services and have over 100 on various waiting lists, of which our longest is currently 4 years. We do the best we can with the money we have, but support from the local community is crucial. The Drop In is a social hub for people to engage in the community and access emotional and practical support. New and vulnerable refugees seeking information and advice can access services and engage in many activities to help them adjust to life in the UK. English language classes are available to all and other courses available include safety in the community, local orientation and wellbeing as well as practical skills and information delivered by partner agencies and specialists. Everyone is encouraged to engage in the development of the Drop In and lead the activities going forward.
