How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Shrewsbury Food Hub

Shrewsbury, UK

Our vision is a community where food is valued, not wasted. Our mission is to redistribute food and promote food waste reduction for environmental and social good. Since April 2016, we have collected good surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers and farms and shared it with local charities and community groups, saving them money so they can do more. Our community partners support the homeless, the old, the vulnerable and those on low incomes. We also support community Foodshare Tables and Fridges where everyone is welcome to collect a few bags of food to help stop food waste and stretch household budgets. Any donation you can make will enable us to train new volunteers, pay for fuel for our charity van, buy in additional surplus from FareShare to supplement the food we collect to nourish our community. Please contact Tammy at tammy@shrewsburyfoodhub.org.uk if you would like more information or would like to get involved. The Food Hub is a registered charity 1171092.

Guide Dogs Uk- Shrewsbury group

Shrewsbury, UK

Across the UK, more than 2 million people are living with sight loss, and this number is expected to rise significantly. Guide Dogs relies on support to meet growing demand and deliver life-changing services. While best known for our famous guide dogs, our work goes much further: Guide Dogs supports children from the moment of diagnosis, helping them develop essential skills, confidence, and independence. We support young people through education and into adulthood and empower adults with bespoke services such as long cane training, life skills, accessible technology, and guide dog partnerships. Every pound raised helps people with sight loss travel independently, access their communities, and regain confidence. Together, we can ensure no one faces sight loss alone. In Shrewsbury, where we are fundraising there is a Guide Dogs academy, where the dogs are trained and matched with people who need them. We are looking to raise funds to continue supporting the work Guide Dogs undertake. Guide dogs do not charge people who need their support. We need support in securing dates at Sainsburys stores to raise funds through bucket collections, which also give us the opportunity to promote our volunteering roles. Guide Dogs couldn’t continue providing its services without donations from the general public, and simply wouldn’t exist without it’s army of volunteers taking on a variety of roles from Puppy Raisers and Fosterers, to Drivers and Fundraisers
