How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Lidl has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Kingfisher Cafe

Bridlington, UK

The Kingfisher Cafe for the Homeless is based in Bridlington and looks after the homeless and needy in our area. We provide a safe, warm and friendly cafe which is centrally located. There are currently no staff costs as the café is completely run by volunteers, some of whom have been homeless in the past and have previously benefitted from the food and support provided by our Charity. We are grateful for food donations from our local supermarkets, since our monthly running costs are over £1,200. We work together with the local churches and other agencies and we provide clothing, sleeping bags, toiletries and other necessities. We cooperate with the local police, probation office and the council. We also have very good relationships with the local community and businesses who all make donations. We provide: breakfast on four days per week; hot evening meals on three nights per week and a Sunday lunch; a ‘pack-up’ of a sandwich with either fruit, biscuit or cake; a flask of tea or coffee. 60 meals are provided each week for 52 weeks per year. We therefore source, prepare and serve approximately 3,000 meals per year. We improve the lives of our beneficiaries through our support with completing forms and job applications, passing on donated clothes and household goods, linking with other support agencies, allowing them to claim benefits through the use of our address and staying in contact with their families.

Bridlington Children's Centre

Bridlington, UK

The Children's Centre in Bridlington supports the whole family. We work with children and families from antenatally to children up to aged 11. At the Children's Centre we work with many vulnerable families in our area to offer support and advice through sessions, activities and 1-1 work. At the Children's Centre we offer a range of activities and services for children and their families to give every child the best start in life. All of the sessions we run are completely free of charge. Children's Centres work with Mum's, Dad's, Carers, Grandparentrs and Foster Carers. Our team are passionate and work together. The surplus stock collected makes a huge difference to the children, young people and families we work with by providing food and household items so desperately needed. Since joining neighbourly we are now supporting many families each week and working with community partners who signpost families our way to collect the surplus food.
