Cornwall Food Action has been running for 8 years working with food producers and supermarkets in Cornwall to minimise surplus food from going to waste. We collect surplus food from producers and supermarkets and redistribute it that day to vulnerable people in mid-Cornwall in order to reduce surplus food being wasted, and helping local people in need. The food is distributed directly to those in need through supporting organisations that help the homeless, elderly, and people on low incomes, and directly to individuals via foodbanks and larders. By matching food to individuals’ specific needs and encouraging them to only take what they can use, we ensure that no food goes to waste. The charity is run on a non-profit basis by a small group of volunteers that collect and distribute the food in the local community. The food is provided free of charge and no items are resold. The project is managed by a volunteer holding a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, and all food is inspected prior to distribution and open or unsafe goods aren’t accepted. - The prevention or relief of poverty - Environment/conservation/heritage - Children/young people - Elderly/old people - Disability - Other charities or voluntary bodies - Provides services

The Dockyard Collective aim to create safe spaces & accessible activities for parents, families and their friends. We run a family cafe Mondays 11-2 with games, toys, coffee and cake for families and their friends. Join us for lunch at 12pm. During the school holidays we offer additional activities and outings. All of our activities operate on a pay how you can basis. We invite people to give how they can to support our community - through donations of items, money or volunteering time. We also run a food larder on a Thursdays, 2-2.45pm, with tea and toast served from 1.30pm. We offer surplus and short dated food to enable people to save money and reduce food waste, with a suggested donation of £2 a bag. Our Youth and Family Workers mentor children and young people in schools, host after school clubs, and run a girls' self esteem course. Join us for Meals with a Message at The Living Room, Sundays at 4:30pm. All ages explore the Christian faith together with songs, games, a craft, and dinner. We give them the chance to learn brilliant employability skills, include them in meaningful activities and help them find employment in their communities. We help disadvantaged people improve their lives while breaking down cultural barriers. There is a chaos to life… particularly for those we seek to help. As you know, it’s hard to walk by on the other side when we see something that needs doing - someone who needs helping. That's why the CHAOS Group was born. We believe in an inclusive society. Our group of community projects aims to make this vision a reality. So Chaos it is. Chaos, bringing us together. That little five letter word reflects an unlikely attitude to doing what we do... Odd but it fits. It fits us and it fits those we work with. Chaos is a Community Interest Company. This means we re-invest any money we make from our good works back into our chaotic community! We're socially driven with charitable aims but we're also financially astute and commercially aware. This means we can make a big success out of what we're doing and empower more people to navigate their chaos. What’s in The Chaos Group right now? Well, to start with there’s Café Chaos. We believe that a great café should be more than just a place to eat and drink. So as well as serving delicious food and drink, our café is a place where our volunteers can be part of a community. They learn to do stuff working with real customers and with some excellent trainers. Next door to the café is Iconic, a Hair and Beauty salon with a difference. Our ethos is to offer treatments that promote physical and emotional well-being. We support people covering all aspects of their lives, and we aim to enable individuals to move towards independence and confidence..... What else? Ah yes, Chaos Farm – we told you this was no ordinary group! So many good vibes come out of those acres. It buzzes with old and young, able and less abled – they all relate to the animals, plants and fresh air. Stayathome Cornwall is the oldest and biggest part of the group. We live in a world where the elderly and often the very young and the disabled can’t or simply don’t want to move too far from all that’s familiar to them. Stayathome started life as a domiciliary care provider to the elderly. In recent years, we've become a specialist provider offering flexible support including personal care to many different groups of all ages. We look after children and adults with physical and learning disabilities and run trips for children with disabilities and complex health needs, including life limiting illnesses. Just as Chaos grew out of Stayathome, we new projects will grow out of the Chaos group, working together and powered by the same aims.
