Lidl London - Finsbury Pk Morris Place

We run a surplus foodbank in Somers Town in the borough of Camden in London. All thanks to 50 local volunteers who help us to support 80 local households, 11 hostels, 1 after-school club and 1 church group. We are supporting just over 125 children now living in poverty. We do this by collecting surplus from 45 local stores every week and redistributing them in a timely manner all thanks to each volunteer commiting to a regular shift weekly/ alternate weeks. Collections are made by bicycle using hitch on/off trailers, by foot using hand carts and some volunteers use their cars for those big collections and drop-offs to big hostels. We also operate a 'Room of thing's where local households that we support can take anything they need from. Items are donated by local businesses and people. There isn't much we can't find a home for. In our small courtyard we also have a surplus cart where people passing by can take what they need. This is about supporting local people whilst also being a part of a circular reuse mode. Our volunteers support us with so much more, from helping local residents with their CVs, mentoring, sewing surplus food bags from textile waste, running a monthly free clothing swap and more. Our project is person centred, each volunteer has something meaningful to offer a local person; this is where community happens. We are just a team of 2 and are BAME-Led. Our work with Neighbourly is a key part to be able to support local people. Our organisation base all Borough in England for homelessness, Disabilities, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Domestic violence, Youth and Adult in needs. We provide accommodation for homelessness through our Outreach workers and through Borough Councils. We provides our clients food as-well as daily needs through assessments and key work meeting by allocating support worker/ project worker as the person to speak with and support them at all time. Our Organisation provides everything needed for their day to day of their recovery including benefits and housing needs. There is Housing benefits for individual when qualify for accommodations under our organisation which staff will apply for, to pay direct to Landlord. Hackney priory parents live in supported accommodation aimed at providing services for young vulnerable parents / young people with complex needs/ young people with mental health needs, between the ages of 16 – 24 years old. One housing have merge with Riverside March 22, we are now One Housing part of Riverside – within the organisation I work with valuable young parents -who are referred by Hackney Social Services, there needs varies from Mental Health, Domestic abused, substance misuse – asylum seekers etc etc etc. We have a few sites in Hackney for young people with complex needs who also receive these donations. These young people we work with are on very low income who struggle day to day to manage their income/budget. Receiving donation helps these young people with managing on their low income, the donations are much appreciated by young people as most of the item which are donate would be unaffordable on their budget. Every Tuesday we run a young mother’s group to promote positive parenting, healthy relationships, positive mental health and well being, amongst other things. The young mothers are all on low incomes and would welcome any donations that are offered; we could also use donations to facilitate healthy cooking workshops and encourage budgeting their income accordingly. We have in the past received clothing items from charity organisation which is not ongoing. We do not collect any other donation from retailers. We do not work in the community all donations are handed out to Hackney Parents and Complex Needs within our Hackney organisation. We collect Customer donation from Lidi in Hackney 3 time a week with donations from Lidi. Thank you for your continuous support from your team
