Officially launched in November 2020, The Food Rescue was born out of a concern at the amount of food that is being 'wasted' by the supermarkets when there are people struggling to make ends meet. The aim of this group is to rescue 'surplus waste' food from supermarkets and redistribute and/or turn into meals for people struggling to put food on the table - together with showing how to cook basic meals with the ingredients they have available to them. Since its inception The Food Rescue Kitchen has evolved from its humble beginnings of collecting surplus food from a small number of supermarkets and then inviting local families to pick up rescued fruit, vegetables and bread from one of our pop-ups to what it has become today . The majority of the food collected 7 days a week from 7 local supermarkets is now donated to The New Forest Basics Bank in Lymington to go out into their food parcels adding fresh fruit, vegetables and bread to their standard food parcels. The rest is distributed to local families supported by The Food Rescue Kitchen itself, together with producing banana cakes (currently just under 15,000 baked to date!), soups and ready meals which again are donated to The New Forest Basics Bank to add a home cooked meals to their food parcels. From January 2025 when a dedicated space for a food production kitchen was acquired - The Food Rescue Kitchen will evolve again into a bigger food production outlet, producing more ready meals, soups, cake and bakes for the comminuty - launch date TBA. I was awarded Citizen of Brockenhurst 2020 for my work within the community. I was also recently interviewed by BBC Radio Solent to talk about my work within the community. In February 2026 I was given a Community Hero Award by Scrivens Opticians. RCCG Place Of Grace in the course of advancing the propagation of the gospel and reducing poverty, make food, clothing and other daily essentials available to the homeless, orphans, widow, widowers, fatherless, motherless and the destitute in Eastleigh and her environs. Although, we are in Eastleigh, Hampshire, we cover areas such as Southampton, Botley, and Hedge-End etc. Our food bank & clothing project has tremendously assisted us to bring people together in a conducive atmosphere and provide food that can be eaten or taken away for those in question and their families. In addition, the essence of our project our is to provide the needed support and counselling by experienced caregivers who can signpost the homeless and destitute in our area to ensure they have roof over their heads. This will enable more people to benefit from the service and support families who are on tight budgets and are keen to provide healthy food options for their children.

The Alcohol Accommodation Service is one of Society of St James' local authority funded projects that supports adults with a history of homelessness. Our specialist alcohol supported accommodation supports 24 adults who are trying to overcome their problematic alcohol use so that they can have a better, healthier future. All the support is tailored around individual need and people are encouraged to progress at a pace that is comfortable for them. As with all of our services, meaningful activity is key to helping people have a different focus in their life, and we encourage our clients to access the wide range of opportunities that we offer to help them find something new to motivate them. People who have become physically dependent on alcohol need to reduce their intake gradually because suddenly stopping when your body is physically dependent is highly dangerous and can be life-threatening. To keep people safe and help them reduce their alcohol use without placing them at risk of harm, we work in close partnership with healthcare colleagues to make sure that any reduction plan is safe.
