Essentials bank is a non-profit organisation redistribute food and essentials to organisations, charities, schools, community groups, and individuals to support people in need and the homeless with life's essentials. Essentials Bank not just provide food but also toiletries, clothes and some specific things under request. Essentials bank provides socks, gloves, scarves, new underwares and hats. We also provide pet food (dogs, cats and other pets food under request). We have different kind of services: - Free of charge service. - Membership service with a small fee to keep our service sustainable, to cover operational costs such as: Warehouse space, freezers and chillers, Administration, vehicle maintenance and fuel. Essentials Bank was initially started on March 2020 covid time when people start losing their job and their house and they have faced difficulty to apply for universal credit and were struggling to get essentials like food, toiletries and etc. Donation Essentials Bank relies on the food donated by the public and food businesses – that’s why your food donations are absolutely vital to continue helping people in need. Our shopping priority list UHT Milk Tins of Meat Tins of Vegetables (sweet corn and peas) Tins of Soup Tins of Fruit Noodle and Pasta Cereals Jams and Spreads Coffee, Tea and Sugar Rice Pudding or Custer Tins of Tuna or mackerel Dog and Cat food We accept fresh, chilled or frozen food. We do also accept non-food items, including toiletries, and female sanitary items. we accept good quality clean clothing donation. So, If you are individual happy to drop off food or any essentials donations, please email us so we can arrange to collect. CAG Devon aims to reduce food waste by working with local community groups and volunteers to provide community meals from food waste events aimed at helping people save money and reduce waste. ReROOTed surplus food project is part of Sustainable Tiverton. We are a member of CAG Devon who support our initiative through insurance training and promotion. ReROOTed run a monthly cafe and a community fridge in the local library. During Covid 19 lockdown the fridge and cafe have been closed and we have been redistributing food surplus to local schools and adventure playground. We hope to open a take-away service from April.

We are a community food share scheme open to anyone, a community resource aimed at providing access to surplus food, reduce food waste from landfill and improve the wellbeing of residents in the local community. We are members of Community Action Groups (CAG) Devon which supports and empowers community groups to act towards a more sustainable future. Where does the food come from? We aim to collect and distribute surplus food from supermarkets in partnership with recognised charities working to reduce food waste. Also food donated by the community will be very welcome indeed, excess produce from your fruit trees or over flowing veg patches for example. A share what you like and take what you need experience! The Larder is a shed, based adjacent to Silverton Community Hall When and how often will it operate? The larder is open 24/7 and supported and maintained by a wonderful team of volunteers.
