Poets Pantry is a resource to combat food poverty in the local community. The rise in the cost of living has hit those who were just about managing and created a situation where people are finding it hard providing food for their families. The Pantry aims to help those people. The neighbourly deliveries are redistributed just after they arrive – they are a free distribution and the time of distribution is 945am-1015am on Thursdays and Fridays.

Quedgeley Community Pantry has been set up to provide low-cost food for local residents struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. The pantry can be used by any resident who needs help to afford groceries including fresh, frozen and ambient food, pet food, toiletries and cleaning products. The pantry charge is £3 for 10 items, and service-users also have access to free items that may be out of use by date by up to 1 day.

Emmaus Gloucestershire supports individuals who have experienced, or have been at risk of, homelessness. We do this by providing a stable home alongside care, support and supervision that is individually tailored to enable them to recover and to achieve their goals and aspirations. Emmaus provides an opportunity to regain this, with a chance to use their existing skills and to develop new skills and qualifications in order to help to rebuild their self esteem and confidence whilst making a real contribution to their community. Emmaus communities are not hostels for the homeless; they provide a home for as long as someone needs it. For many, this support and stability is like the family they don’t have, providing a safe environment in which to settle and re-build their lives. Often this is an opportunity to overcome issues such as addiction, get support with mental health issues or rebuild relationships with estranged family. Emmaus communities deliver a significant return on investment. Research shows that for every £1 invested in a community, there is an £11 social, environmental and economic return, with savings to the benefit bill, health services and a reduction in crime. Social enterprise is central to the Emmaus model as it provides meaningful work experience for companions but also generates part of the funding required to maintain communities. Through our social enterprise we also support various local charities, and their clients, with low cost household items, furniture and clothing. We also conduct solidarity activities by providing free items to various charities to support their mission to alleviate poverty and homelessness in the county and abroad. We act as a homeless provision hub storing tents, sleeping bags, toiletries etc, for multiple local charities ready for them to distribute throughout the year. We occasionally utilise Neighbourly's surplus food collection service to obtain food for our community home, whilst assisting the local supermarkets with their food wastage.
