We redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to the local community and local charities. This not only saved food from landfill but also helps to build community. - What premises does your project operate from? Currently 38 Linkside Rd, L25 9NX. This is registered with EHO. We have just been offered one day a week in a local shop. We are also working with two local councillors (Mirna Juarez and Sharon Connor) to rent space in a local church hall in an evening too. - How do you identify service users and their needs? They approach us through our facebook page, word of mouth or other people/organisations direct them to ourselves. For example, Alice Bennett, an ex local councillor directed us to a lady with seven children. They also come to our Friday community event in Hunts Cross Gardens. - Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Our other aim is building community and providing opportunities for volunteering. - Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? No - Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? Yes – Tesco and a local Co op. - Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not yet although the local councillors do share our facebook page. - Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? There are lots on our facebook page and Instagram page - Is your project a registered charity, registered CIC, social enterprise or non-profit organisation? We have made an application. - Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? We are an independent foodbank that covers the whole of West Lancashire providing food, cleaning products and clothes to disadvantaged families in the community. We operate a referral-based foodbank serving West Lancashire's most vulnerable residents. Our team collects donated food and essential items which we package into multi-day parcels, providing families with enough supplies to sustain them through difficult periods. We would like donations to support these families at their time of need. Leading up to Christmas we also make up food hampers and children's presents to give out to local agencies or families that would not be able to have Christmas without our support. Any donations are gratefully received and will be put to good use.

Newstart in Southport is a temporary stay accommodation for people aged between 18-35 who find themselves homeless, often through no fault of their own. Some of the younger people come to us as they have had family relationships break down; some come to us from leaving care services. More often than not they have additional needs like poor mental health or dependencies to drugs or alcohol. Either way they often have nothing when they arrive so if they come to us we try our best to make them feel they're at home, safe and wanted. We have two Adult Hostel services located in Southport with our most recent service opening during the Covid Pandemic. In addition to this, between 8pm and 8am each night we run a Crash Bed service for rough sleepers. This means people who live on the street can have somewhere to go to each night instead of sleeping rough in very cold wet weather. We offer them a self contained room with en-suite bathroom, a hot evening meal and breakfast before they leave us. We will also provide them with toiletries, socks and donated clothes if they need them. We are very grateful to M&S for allowing us to take part in their Neighbourly project. With the extra food donations we are able to help the residents and rough sleepers with just a little bit more than they would have. Thank you.
