Friends of Walton hall park have now been running for five years. The group is run entirely by volunteers working seven days a week to make the 130 acre park better for the wildlife who live their, the park visitors who choose to visit the park and enjoy its fantastic scenery and the health benefits it provides but also the wider community who live around or near to the park. The group was set up to improve the park and make it a great place for all. The volunteers work hard and this shows with the huge improvements they have achieved. They have created new community spaces within the park including a community garden, a rose garden, new seating area and lots of wildflower beds. The group also hosts - Community events throughout the year. Corporate team building and business events Local school work days Works with other community groups, organisations, businesses and charities Other park friend groups. The work they do includes - Litter picking Planting - Seeds, Bulbs, Plants, Hedges and Trees Cleaning the seven acre lakes Looking after sick and injured wildlife Emptying bins when needed General cleaning and maintenance Art and craft projects Seed planting Growing of plants for the park and for sale Growing of fresh organic food Working alongside park user groups Promoting the park on social media Bringing new events and groups to the park We welcome all new volunteers and everyone is welcome to come along even if you have a new idea or suggestion to improve the park then we would love to hear from you.
