Mudlarks Outdoors
Morpeth, UK
Mudlarks provide educational and exciting Beach School sessions for Primary School aged children in Northumberland. Our Beach School sessions aim to connect children to nature and allow them to experience and learn all about their wonderful coast. The Mudlarks team firmly believe that educating children on the scale and the importance of the marine plastic problem whilst also inspiring them to take action on a local practical scale with Beach Cleans as well as using their pester power to lobby governments, politicians and plastic producing companies can help to make a difference. During our Beach School Sessions children will learn all about the marine plastic problem, theyw ill take part in practical Beach Cleans, seeing for themselves what gets washed upon our beaches and in the process helping to keep them clean. They will start to think about where the plastic came from, how it got here and what harm it might do. We will learn about how each of us can make a difference and how working together as a group can be powerful. We will explore our local beaches as habitats to find out more about the birds, mammals and marine creatures that live in the dunes, sand and rocky shores of our coast. Afterwards we will ask all children to make a pledge of something they could do to help with the marine plastic problem.
