CCA Garden Project
Edinburgh, UK
Craigmillar Community Arts (CCA) works to discover artists among residents, encouraging, supporting and promoting local artistic talent for a higher purpose. Using arts as tools, CCA inspires confidence and teaches technical and social skills. Not only does it provide opportunities for self-expression and education, but it develops the individuals, and in so doing, the whole community is developed as well. CCA organises and conducts workshops in the various arts, including creative writing, drawing, painting, photography, pottery, screen printing, drama and music. CCA also produces art exhibitions, community musicals, concerts, theatre shows and pantomimes. Other projects include involving the arts in the environment. We have a community garden which we would like upgrade in order to make it accessible for disabled service users who visit us on a weekly basis. Our aim is to make space for them to grow their own plants and vegetables. We'd also like to improve the small plantations in our premises with the creation of relaxation areas to help them improve their socialising skills and build new friendships.
