Rother Voluntary Action
Bexhill-on-Sea, UK
RVA seeks to strengthen the social and economic well-being of local communities and help people fulfil their potential in a socially and environmentally sustainable fashion through its work as a development trust and council for voluntary service. We run a number of projects across the Rother area, from promoting good bathing water quality along the coast, supporting children's education through learning activities, supporting and promoting volunteering in the area, and helping other local groups and organisations. As part of our environmental project, Clean Seas Please, we focus mainly on the bathing water quality along the coastline of Bexhill and Hastings. We promote 'best practice' among businesses and households, engage with all generations, we are soon to set up a beach school to promote safe but fun beach use. We are supported by students at Brighton University as well as a number of regular volunteers. We also run 2 aspiration groups (for 0-5s and parents, and 6-13 year old's). We are looking for volunteers to help run sessions or to come along and talk about their jobs - what's involved and what training is required, etc.
