Community Wood Recycling is a nationwide network of wood recycling social enterprises. We save resources by rescuing and re-using waste timber, and create sustainable jobs, training and volunteering opportunities for local people, especially those who are disadvantaged. As an organisation whose social enterprises contribute to environmental improvement and social justice, we want local communities to understand the true value of waste as a resource to be used again. This project will enable us to bring groups of school children to our premises so they can see and learn about our recycling work first hand. We encourage children and adults to understand the true value of waste - seeing it as a resource waiting to be used again. To really engage them, they will have the opportunity of making a box from recycled wood to take away with them as a permanent reminder. By reducing carbon this also benefits the global community.
