Grow For It - Llantrisant Community Garden
Pontyclun, UK
Grow For It is a community garden run by a group of passionate, committed local people who want to grow fresh food and offer accessible wellbeing spaces and workshops in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taff. Our conservation projects make the most of our local public land - for example, clearing junk out of our woodlands, making them safer and more accessible; managing land in a way that respects the local biodiversity and encourages native pollinator plants. With the involvement of our schools, local businesses and voluntary groups, together aim to create a more inclusive community - one that looks out for the wellbeing of residents while increasing an awareness of climate change and appreciation of our local environment. We welcome volunteers, both individuals and groups to work with us towards growing a better community, This can be on a small scale; by helping us with a practical project like planting seeds or joining in a litter pick, or on bigger projects like making recycled planters or creating new gardening areas. There is a great social element to our project, as we all enjoy sharing the great outdoors in good company, meeting new people, sharing knowledge, a cuppa and the produce from the garden. We fundraise towards specific equipment and materials we need, but also to allow us to put on events, training and workshops for the benefit of the community.
