1St Bishops Stortford And Hockerill Scout Group
Bishop's Stortford, UK
1st Bishops Stortford and Hockerill Scout Group delivers a range of adventurous and education-based activities for young people aged 6-14. The Scout Group, founded in 1909, is thriving, with more young members and adult leaders than ever before. Membership has reached in excess of 250, making us the second largest Group in Hertfordshire, the largest in the District and one of the top 20 Groups in the UK. Our Scout Hut in Heathrow, Bishops Stortford is home to regular community groups in addition to the beaver colonies, cub packs and scout troops, including a church, guides, dance groups, keep fit and martial arts. The combined membership of these organisations means that we reach another 1,600 people from the community who use the building on a regular basis. As part of the ongoing upkeep of the building and surrounding area, we are planning a clean up of the approach road/footpath to the hut and beyond, to the entrance of Birchanger Woods. This access is used not only by users of the hut but users of the woods too (including members of the scout group, dog walkers, runners, walkers etc). In addition, we plan to clear and clean up a small wooded area at the end of the pathway in order to attract more local wildlife and replace the existing fencing to provide a safer and more secure environment for the hall and its users.
