Boughton & Ollerton Tenants & Residents Association

Newark, UK

B.O.T.R.A is a local tenants and residents association that exists to improve the local community and environment. We work with the local community and partner groups to identify and resolve issues facing members of the community. These issues vary from road safety, fly tipping, policing, anti social behaviour, fun events etc. The Retford Road Estate in Boughton has had many problems over the years with nuisance and anti social behaviour, littering and fly tipping resulting in a high turnover of tenancies. We have held 'Clean Ups' on the estate before and concentrate on particular in getting the children involved. This year we would like to organise a clean up and litter pick to coincide with Great British Spring Clean. We want to encourage the tenants to get involved and to collect and safely dispose of rubbish that is spoiling their environment. It is hoped this will give the tenants a pride in their community and promote a clean and healthy environment. Our local Town and District Council have always been very supportive in the past and we hope we can encourage them to take an active part once again. Also, we have a local charity, The Furniture Project, which comes along and takes away any items suitable for recycling. In order to organise this one day event we will need the following: Leaflets - Posters for publicity Skip hire Black bin bags Litter pick kits ( Litter pickers, sack hoop, gloves and hi vis waistcoats) Refreshments (Tes, coffee, juice, biscuits) Treats for the children taking part
