TK Maxx Bexleyheath

SWAN is a group of volunteers who have created an Environment Area/Nature Reserve in Swanley Park over the past 18 years. We have created native hedging, planted three wildflower areas and many trees, plus introducing bug hotels, habitats for invertebrates and reptiles, bird boxes. Our aim is to create as many habitats for wildlife as possible enabling people to enjoy doing so, learning from it and meeting new friends too. We especially welcome children with their families together with local uniformed groups and schools who have engaged with us and followed their nature pursuits both at school and at their clubs as well as on site. We normally seek grants for most of our projects: our last big project was to plant over 600 tree saplings to create a small wood in Swanley Park to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War, which is now called the Remembrance Wood. We welcomed over 100 volunteers (including children, local rugby club, railway society, local councillors and our local MP, Sir Michael Fallon, to the event which was very successful. We are constantly seeking new volunteers to continue our work into the future: new ideas and initiatives always welcome.
