The school have been committed for the past 5 years to integrate itself and it's pupils into the Stevenage community to help improve the experiences of our children and help improve our community. As part of our curriculum we dedicate our Thursday afternoons to a skills curriculum which aims to educate our pupils a wide variety of life skills and unique experiences. We have a community group that comprises of five different pupils every half term who take part in a variety of community based activities. These include; Litter picks local to the school, litter picks at parks across Stevenage, Learning with the residents at Jubilee Court (Home for the elderly), helping develop the Oval community Garden, learning with pupils at local schools to help them improve their garden areas, helping children with severe disabilities at a local SEN school to take part in arts and craft activities, charity fundraising, helping the homeless, recycling plastic waste (over 10,000 plastic items were recycled following a 3 week project). We are currently embarking on a community project aimed at improving our outdoor learning environment. The objective is to redevelop our pond area to allow further learning of pond life to take place. The area will also encourage nature to visit our school area through building bird boxes/feeding tables, developing bug hotels, developing a sensory garden, vegetable growing garden and a team building area. This will be accessible to local schools, jubilee court and local businesses.
