Originating from a student volunteer project at Cardiff University, Innovate Trust provides support and guidance to disabled people. Our main work is to support people with learning disabilities, but we also support individuals with mental health issues and people with physical impairments. In addition we provide support to elderly, young, disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the local community through our Student Volunteer projects. Innovate Trust is proud of its history and continues to aspire to develop new ways of working that could and have been replicated across the country and abroad. Our most well known pioneering work was the development of the first Supported Living house in the UK for individuals with a learning disability. Recently we have developed and expanded our social enterprises which are now working towards becoming completely self-funded. We have piloted and led numerous partnerships funded by Europe most recently through the ‘Equal Programme’ where we successfully lead a trans-national partnership with a pan-disability remit. Innovate Trust is keen to continue to lead the way in alternative service provision and will ensure that it has both the ideas and resources to continue its ground breaking work ****The Green Days project has now finished - please take a look at the final report to see what the project and it's participants acheived over three wonderful years https://www.scribd.com/document/387205518/Green-Days-Report The Green Days project helps people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems to gain the skills and confidence that will help them to lead an independent life within the community. The project is delivered in nature reserves and parks across the counties of Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taff and includes activities such as footpath and site reclamation, litter clearing, removal of invasive plant species, planting and maintenance of wildlife areas, habitat improvement to increase biodiversity, general landscape improvement and recording of wildlife plus the development of nature walks and wildlife gardening. We work closely with the Community Park Rangers, and the work that we carry out has a great impact on the people that use those areas, and the wildlife that lives there.
