Shrewsbury Cup is a new CIC which aims to eliminate single-use paper cup waste in Shrewsbury. How does it work? A customer chooses a Shrewsbury Cup in a cafe - orders their drink and pays £1 deposit for the cup. They enjoy their coffee and then they can return their cup to any participating cafe in the town to get their £1 deposit back. Seven million single-use paper cups are used and thrown every day - 500,000 end up as litter. So when people use a Shrewsbury Cup they are saving waste, saving carbon, and reducing potential litter.
