Age UK Westminster aim is to combat loneliness and social isolation and we provide a befriending service for those older residents of Westminster who have little or no support. We match clients with a befriending volunteer who agrees to visit the client on a weekly basis for an hour or so to offer conversation over coffee/tea. Some of our volunteers take their befriending client out for a walk, to a museum or they accompany them to our varied schedule of activities. The relationship provides benefits for both the client and volunteer. Clients and volunteers are matched according to their hobbies/interests and their locations. Age UK Westminster has been providing a befriending service for many years and due to the pandemic of recent years we have experienced an increase in need. Corporate company employees provide outstanding support to our befriending service and as a leading charity we rely on volunteer support to provide our services.
