Tarbolton food Larder strives to reduce food waste and food poverty by using surplus food to give cooking demonstrations, distribute and give handy tip and recipes to the local community to ensure not a scrap goes to waste. In this current climate it has become apparent that more and more families need access to food for their families. We want to take the stigma off charity for families that don’t want to ask by engaging in our local communities providing a warm friendly service. We already run a charity for children and run many drop in cafe days for people to come and get a free meal. We have a charity van for transport, we have 2 large fridges and 2 large chest freezers for storage We operate from Annbank Community hall where we run lots of community events. We advertise when we are going to be there and have private messages from families in need. Most families contact through the NBCC charity. Our Night before Christmas campaign has been in the press on tv and a motion has just recently been passed through Scottish Parliament recognising our work with children and families. We have partnered up with Ayrshire food hub who provide frozen meals on a Tuesday they are also providing a new freezer. I have emailed Lauren. We have also worked with the Kincaidston food hub and the Ukrainian support. Our charity's aimed at providing our community with access to social and environmental improvements. We have opened a warm food hub to encourage the community to meet in a warm environment and be able to access everyday food items including pet food. Donated food is also used to make soup etc for the community to enjoy while they visit our Hub & get the chance to socialise and keep warm We are encouraging the community to pull together in this cost of living crisis and providing access to information re heating and benefits. We are working with partners in housing, education and vibrant communities. We provide emergency food packages for those referred by social work & other agencies. Where we have to purchase food ourselves we then make a nominal charge however all food donated by Neighbourly is given out free of charge not only during the larder opening hours but also in emergency bags when referrals come into the group. Doon the Hub have now set up a Brunch Club on a Saturday and Wednesday during school holidays. This service provides hot/cold breakfast for both children and adults, this is aimed at alleviating child poverty, this is a free service to those who attend.

Newton Primary is a school in an area where many individuals and families face daily challenges. We support families by providing food shopping list items, clothing (new and nearly new), kitchen utensils and household goods, bedding and energy top ups. We also support our families and those in the community by helping them access advice from various agencies eg income maximisation, smoking cessation, local charities and employability. Our shopping list is updated weekly on our school app and families ask for what they need. We have an open door once a week for bags and lunch, during this time members of the community come and get food, etc from our store.
