How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Lidl has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

SHARE Wokingham

Wokingham, UK

We are a volunteer led and run community service set up as a consequence of Covid-19 supporting the local community with fresh food and other items which would ordinarily be wasted. We ask for a £1 donation for the items we offer and we are open to anyone who can come along to us, no referral needed. SHARE Wokingham is a locally founded food sharing charity (registered number 1195620) with 15 sites in Wokingham and surrounding areas. Each week SHARE helps over 2000 people in our local community who need support foodwise by redistributing an incredible 40 tonnes of food from local supermarkets and food suppliers that would otherwise go to waste. No referral is required. Our food sharing is for anyone who feels they could do with some help – even if just temporarily. Everyone is welcome. No questions are asked. You will just find friendly faces and plenty of fresh produce.

St Paul's School Parent Association

Wokingham, UK

St Paul's C of E Junior School School Parent Teacher Association is committed to supporting our school but also giving back to the local schools and churches as part of creating a positive sense of community with an aim to thank teachers and help families and children who may just need a bit of extra help. As a community we reach out to other local schools, teachers, families and children who may need some extra help or just to show our gratitude for all their hard work. Over the last 3 years we have been putting a smile on many faces and believe we have been able to make a difference! How it all started... We started during lockdown giving pastries, bread, flowers and other unsold items to local schools to thank teachers for all they were doing for the children in extremely challenging times. We have carried it on since. Sharing the love, giving back to our hard working teachers. Thanking school staff each week for their dedications. They continue to face challenging times and every day they put a smile on their faces for the next generation. This is a way of giving a smile back. For some teachers and support staff this little bit of help each week makes a real difference. They might not want to go to a food bank or similar but this they can have without judgment. We have also been able to pass non perishable items on to children and their families and helped to fill school's emergency pantries with the surplus we collect.

Yes these can be provided and I will get back into thanking stores with pictures when we collect but when we are low on volunteers it is hard to do it all. Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? If you would like to provide a reference from a local organisation, if you could ask them to email us at food@neighbourly.com as soon as possible, that would be great.
