COMMUNITY CHILDCARE CENTRES (Growing Places) have been providers of not-for-profit childcare for over 20 years in Havant and Fareham Boroughs; we invest in our facilities, staff and resources and are committed to ensuring the highest quality of care and education for your child. As a charitable company Growing Places operates a variety of childcare centres around Havant and Fareham Boroughs caring for children aged from 6 months to 11 years. Well trained, highly motivated and committed staff ensure that all our children are provided with a safe, secure, warm, stimulating play and learning environment. Growing Places community department run family cookery workshops, introduction to and exploration of a verity of fruit and vegetables and how they contribute to health and wellbeing. Cook and eat workshops where we show families and the community how to make healthy low cost meal on a budget. Our community pantry is a lifeline to our community in providing a helping hand to others, and saving good food going to landfill. Alongside our soon to be community garden starting 2022! A place where you can grow, learn and be a peace together whilst feeding the community.

We are a not-for-profit group supported by East Hampshire Community Rail Partnership. Our mission is to save food from going to waste and offer it to the local community. We have a team of volunteers who, six days a week, collect food from the local supermarkets. We also have volunteers who work in the shop and run the sessions when we open to the public. On average we have over 200 customers pass through the shop. In addition, we occasionally receive produce from other outlets and from individuals who have a surplus in their allotments or gardens. From time to time people give us long-life food when they move house or clear out their kitchen cupboards. We do not ask for any money for the produce but donations from customers help us to cover our running costs.

We are a community charity set up to help local people in need, specifically to provide companionship, support, and prevent social isolation. We work mostly with the elderly and those needing some kind of assistance or help. We want to re-distribute the food so that it either gets used within our own charity so that we can continue to provide affordable menu items for our Pop-In Tea Room, or so that it is handed out to those that we deem in need. We are in touch with mostly elderly people from the local community, and have close links with Age Concern and other local organisations who can locate those in need of some assistance.
