How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Lidl has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

RE:Make Valleys - Maerdy Community Shop

Ferndale, UK

We offer a community shop in Maerdy RCT. Households are able to obtain food items, ambient, fresh, chilled and frozen, using a points system. This ensures that everyone gets a fare share of the items available. We need surplus food items to ensure that we can continue this very needed service for our community.

Little Shed

Tonypandy, UK

Our Little Shed is a community space in the heart of Tonypandy town centre and offers support and activities focussed on cost of living, health & wellbeing and sustainability. We work with many community partners to deliver on these key areas. We work with partners to offer health, sports and outdoor activities which improve well-being, physical health and confidence, as well as providing a safe space for tenants to socialise and build new skills. We work closely with a local environmental project that seeks to re-engage local people with their natural environment, building Eco skills and skills for employment as well as allowing participants to explore the valley's forestry and mountain landscapes. We also work with local food retail partners to redistribute surplus stock, addressing food poverty while preventing unnecessary landfill waste. Finally, we offer groups and activities such as a Community Fridge, Repair Cafe and sustainable craft sessions to promote sustainable practices as well as providing the social benefits of engaging in a community space. All activities are offered free of charge and are available to anyone in the community.
