Lidl Oakham

Rutland Community Fridges have been running sine October 2020. With 4 locations in Oakham and Uppingham and Greetham, we operate for approx 6 hours a week. We have regular contact with around 70 families each week and have saved over 35 tonnes of food to date July 2024. We are looking to refurbish the Community room that our Oakham Community fridge is situated and would be happy to accept donations of paint and other decorating materials from the B&Q Community Reuse Programme.

Our organisation was created in October 2020 during the coronavirus period to support our community with foodbank/foodshare, jobs and accommodation, also we offer various community events,programmes and projects funded by various organisations such as Leeds community foundation, Leeds city council and central government, Arnold Clark Community Fund.We have given out up to date free food percel to support families in hardship worth more than £150,000.00, also our recent partnership with Neigbourly,Fareshare, collection of food items from M&S Foods Tesco,Asda,Morrisons,Aldi, and Hamara Health Living Leeds have really boosted up our foodshare programme feeding the community, tackling food waste witjin our community, our challenges is the logistics collection and distribution,and we now have a van to support 100% our weekly for our mobile van foodbank/foodshare programmes for collection and redistribution of this food items as to continue to to help people in deprived areas going through hard times, every charity and community group are stretched and we need more support that support now more than ever before.

We are a registered charity run by a committee of parents, staff and friends of The Ark. We are made up of two sites, one catering for children ages 3 months to 5 years and the other children ages 18 months to 5 years. We also have an out of school club where children ages 4 to 11 years. We aim to offer high standards of education,stimulation and fun within a structured environment for children ages 3 months to 5 years. Our ideals are neatly summed up in the words of educationalist Charlotte Mason "We must help them [children] to grow at their own pace by nurturing their own talents and help them to develop their own individual personalities" We hope to continue building on our ideals and create the most enriching and stimulating environment for the children within our care.
