We continue to support the local community through our Foodshare which is open 3 times a week in Strichen and now also once a week in the neighbouring village of New Pitsligo. We still work alongside our local Social Work Dept by providing emergency food parcels for vulnerable families. We have a small team of willing volunteers who collect the food from the stores and local shops as well as 'man' the tables on opening days. We are grateful for the stores' contributions and very proud of our faithful team who freely give of their time and transport to serve the villages and to help raise awareness of reducing food waste.

We support families who need a little extra help with many things, from isolation, mental health issues, disabilities, multiple births, single parents, financial crisis, and so on. Our support is offered to families in the Aberdeenshire area, who have children under the age of 5 years old, because we believe early intervention is key and childhood cannot wait. We have a team of trained volunteers who are matched with a family and they go in for a couple of hours a week to provide emotional and practical support to these families. We cover a large area in Aberdeenshire from Portsoy along the cost covering Banff, Macduff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, to Hatton and inland to cover Auchnagatt, to Cornhill and all the rural villages in-between. We also offer 5 weekly support group for families to attend. These offer families a chance to meet up and provide them with a safe and non-judgement space to talk, the children are able to mix and build positive relationships and friendships. Hot and cold food is provided for free for families during these sessions. All our families are offered food support and can take from the food bank when they need. Volunteers can offer cooking support on a budget within the family home or within a group session. We also offer emergency food parcels which can be collected or delivered to the families homes. All our food donations we receive are given out to families for free. We ensure all families are provided with free food hampers at Christmas time too to cover an expensive time of the year.

The Fraserburgh Community Council Resilience Group officially opened our Community Food Bank in April 2021 with the help of a local business man who gave us free use of an unused office block, local businesses and Aberdeenshire Council who helped kit out the larder. As of today 21st Aug 2025, we have 80 members. Membership is open to anyone in Fraserburgh and the surrounding area. Membership for a year costs £2. Members are allowed 1 visit per week at a cost of £2. They have a choice of five items, three of low value eg. tinned food, rice, pasta, toiletries and two items of high value eg. tinned food, fresh meat, chicken, fish and frozen dinners. Fresh fruit, veg, eggs, bread, sanitary products and non stock items are free. Our short term plan is to work from this office block and make it an inviting shopping experience. Our long term ten year plan is to look for a larger, permanent building. This building would ideally have more rooms which could be used for one to one confidential consultations by members and a kitchen in which we could provide cooking tips and help the members to make cheap meals. As of 25 November 2024 we became a registered charity in Scotland, therefore changing our name from Fraserburgh Community Council Resilience Group to, Fraserburgh Resilience Group SCIO - SCO53803
