How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Lidl has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

East Surrey Hospital Community Fridge

Redhill, UK

The East Surrey Hospital Fridge is open to everyone! It is open for business 24/7 and is located at the east entrance to the hospital opposite the multi-faith chapel. What is a Community Fridge? Community Fridges are social sites for food education and sharing. They are housed in publicly accessible places – making fresh food that would otherwise be wasted freely available to the community. Surplus perishable food is collected by our volunteers from local businesses, and from our on-site produce stall, Three Arches Restaurant and supermarkets. Food is collected as regularly as possible and then made available to anyone in the community who would like it. Community Fridges exist to reduce food waste and foster a spirit of sharing and mutual support within a community. Our Community Fridge is open to EVERYONE! The community fridge is funded by SASH Charity thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation for Surrey. Find out more about the hospital charity at www.sashcharity.org or the Community Foundation for Surrey at https://www.cfsurrey.org.uk/ Thank you to all the local businesses who kindly donate food, and to our brilliant team of volunteers who look after the fridge. In the event of a problem, or to find out more about how you can help the hospital. Please contact sash.charity@nhs.net or call SASH Charity on 07966 235171

Quarry Café & Community Fridge CIC

East Grinstead, UK

As a Community Fridge we collect surplus food that could otherwise easily end up in the landfill and make it available for people to take and consume in exchange for a small donation. As a Community Cafe we also provide a full cafe menu available to all. Our Cafe ethos has always been to try to provide the best possible quality at the lowest possible price. In addition to this we also utilised our FSA 5* kitchen to enable us to produce our own made frozen ready meals that we use within the cafe or give out to those that have difficulty cooking for themselves. We also repackage large catering size products into more usable sizes for individuals and families. For anyone in crisis we can provide a hot meal in our cafe as well as a supply of fresh and frozen stock to take home with them. We work in partnership with the East Grinstead Foodbank and take referrals from many local agencies including GP Surgeries, Schools, Early Help Teams and many more.
