ln August 2007, ECE recieved a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of 300,000 members of the IYF (International Youth Fellowship) for our contribution to the UK branch. In September 2008, Esther Community Enterprise was awarded certificates from the Lord Mayor of Croydon, for having carried out 100 hours of volunteering activities. On the 2 June 2011, ECE was awarded with theQueens Award for Voluntary Service, MBE. This is the highest award given to voluntary groups in the United Kingdom, and as such, is equivalent in status to the MBE. This prestigious UK National Honour recognises outstanding voluntary contributions and sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering, with the work of those awarded being judged to be of the highest standard. We aim to meet those who have needs in the local community by redistribution of food and other consumables donated from retailers. ECE makes a worthwhile collective response to the 3 tenets of sustainable development, namely social, economical and environmental needs. ECE forms a consortium with other charities, faith groups, projects and organisations. We have over 70 Project Co-ordinators. They manage and help to distribute the food/groceries and clothing items within the local communities across the UK, on behalf of ECE. We have sustained our social enterprise through the goodwill and hard work of over 400 drivers and countless volunteers, who contribute their time, transportation and finance to this worthy cause. Near sell by date food is collected on a daily basis from a range of supermarkets and other retailers and diverted to those that need it most ECE feeds in excess of 40,000 people per week and this is steadily on the increase as we expand across the UK

We are a Christian organization with various Food outlets and still counting. We are a NGO and all our services are free. We were invited to start in Halifax, and we began with a food initiative, "Never Alone" where we gave supplies to about 50 plus families. MORE INFORMATION We are also based in Halifax, UK, HX1. We operate from Orange box, very close to the Peace hall. We help  Single mothers  Single dads  Domestic abused victims and their children  Struggling families  Young moms  The homeless people  Vulnerable adults  Children  Residents of care homes for the elderly  Residents of drugs and alcohol recovery units  Residents of mental care homes  People on low income  People recovering from illness or surgery  People scheduled to undergo surgery  Disabled adults who live by themselves but depend on carers  Those in temporary accommodations  People who live rough. Those who need help.  Walk into our churches.  Walk up to us on the streets.  When we go out in branded uniforms to share our flyers, people reach out to us on the streets.  Word of mouth  Referred to us by various organizations (sign posting)  Community Give Back Programs--- We approach various homes, institutions, facilities, organizations informing them about what we do  Community Support events ---- We organize food drives, we approach people who we know or observe need the support we are able to give  Organizations call us to support a client or resident in their care especially when these clients are low on funds.  We approach hostels  We hand out flyers  We have various groups attached to us • GO-2-INC • Send Portions • ICM for children • IDOS --- International Day Of Service • Coloring Dreams The support we are looking to receive from Neighbourly and how this will help us are (food surplus/volunteering/grants) 1) Food surplus 2) Provision of household items – laundry items, kitchen items, bathroom and toilet cleaners etc 3) Provision of essential items --- personal hygiene products, toiletries etc 4) Clothing for men, women and children --- Jumpers, coats, scarves, hats…. 5) Shoes We can reach more people. • We can reach more places. • We can provide varieties of items. • We can be more consistent in our supplies. • In unfavourable seasons, we can meet the needs of all those who depend on us. We have had a few local press coverages, such as Loveworld Christian TV, Healing To The Nations Magazines and we hope to get more press coverages as we did with the TV series, DIY SOS: The Big Build is a British DIY television series made for the BBC. We have volunteer drivers who help to convey food and essential items about. At the moment, members of the group and the church put resources together to provide for the community and those who we support.
