Loughborough Community Centre (LCC) was established in 1981, by the residents of Loughborough Estate as a positive outcome of the Brixton riots. We exist to give our local community a safe space to come together, learn and grow. LCC provides activities to alleviate the effects of poverty for families within the most deprived ward in Lambeth (Coldharbour) at the Max Roach Centre. From very young tots to the ripe old age of (we wont ask!) we have something for you. So if you want to help improve our community and its health, education and wellbeing please get involved – it really is that easy. What do we do? Rosebuds pre-school: OFSTED rated ‘Good’ and provides early learning opportunities and support for children aged 2 – 5 years. Thanks to our amazing garden and vegetable patches, we have a real focus on Outdoor Learning. Holiday Play Project: Gives children from 0-13 yrs and their families free leisure, learning and play activities through the school holidays, along with a nutritious freshly prepared meals by the children and parent volunteers. Our vibrant community space is often packed with people and groups chatting, learning, exercising and celebrating. Through our partnership with the Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP), we have extended our services for young children. This includes: Stay and play sessions to children under 5 and their parents, Chatter Time sessions (with speech and language Therapists from Evelina) providing safe and encouraging speech and language learning opportunities for under 5’s and their parents and Door Step Library who provide library books to families throughout the Loughborough estates to increase opportunities for families to engage in literacy activities with their children from an early age. We support and encourage volunteers throughout the community – such as becoming Food Ambassadors that cook lunch within our projects, Parent Representatives and Champions to support local parents to support services and activities. In partnership with Five a Side and Fulham FC our amazing football pitch gives free football lessons to local children, and is available to hire throughout the evenings and weekends. We regularly throw open our doors for Children Parties, Community Events and Open Days, to welcome everyone in – because who doesn’t love a good reason to come together and celebrate.

The principal objectives of the charity is the advancement of the christian faith worldwide and relief of poverty To be able to achieve these objectives we have set up 6 projects. They cater for the children, the elderly, the homeless, people suffering from addiction, low income families and mental health. Our centre which is open 6days a week feed about 200 people weekly. Our food bank opens every Sunday and has been of tremendous assistance to families struggling with their finances for the past seven years. We partner with all organizations that share the same objectives as us.

Dads House is a charity, running for over 12 years, initially set-up to help single dads with the practicalities of raising their children alone. We have just started 2 food banks, one in West Brompton and one in Elephant & Castle, to include surround areas. We are currently in need of support for our Food Bank through local stores donations of essential foods - so that in turn Dads House can help the local community during this pandemic and beyond. Dads House latest foodbank will be based in the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre opening on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be supporting anyone who is vulnerable or in financial trouble due to COVID-19 - It is there to help anyone that needs a helping hand during the most difficult times ahead that faces all of us. Looking to expand on doing more deliveries as well more Food Bank days during the week.
