How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Lidl has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Albrighton Community Fridge

London, UK

The Community Fridge project is aimed at reducing food wastage amongst food retailers and householders in the local area, whilst simultaneously supporting the local community by providing food at no charge. In doing to the project also provides employment, training and volunteering opportunities for local people and builds trust and a spirit of sharing within the community. The Albrighton Community Fridge can be found in the Albrighton Community Centre, Camberwell. It is open to members of the public on from Tues - Thurs from 1pm. It works on an honesty basis. There is also a second fridge where food is held specifically for organisations and charities which help vulnerable people locally. Alongside the fridge can be found a Community Cooking kit. The kit operates like a library with items such as blenders, rice cookers, slow cookers and vacuum packs on loan for week-long periods. The library intends to help local households without the means or space to own such items. The items were picked for their ability to support with food waste reduction. It is the first of its kind and you can sign up at the Albrighton Centre reception. On occasion the fridge hosts cooking workshops and other skills sharing events. We are always looking for food donations from local retailers and individuals and volunteers to support with the running of the fridge. The Albrighton Community Fridge is a part of the Hubbub Community Fridge Network.

Ronald McDonald House Camberwell

London, UK

Ronald McDonald House provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at 14 specialist children's hospitals across the UK so that families can remain united and close to their seriously ill child. We are an independent charity, receive no funding from Government bodies and rely solely on the support of our families, businesses and community. Our Camberwell House, located just 5 minutes from King’s College Hospital, supports families from all over the UK. It is equipped with kitchens, playrooms, laundry facilities, has communal lounges and a garden so that families can feel at home. Families can stay as long as their child is being treated, whether that is for a couple of days or for years. Our aim is to create a safe environment where families can focus in helping their child get better without worrying about financial implications such as hotel, travel and food and being able to spend some time together therefore strengthening family stability and mental wellbeing.

Pecan Pantry Peckham

London, UK

Pecan is a community charity based in Southwark, working in this and neighbouring boroughs. We support local people who are unemployed, isolated, ex-offenders, or affected by benefit changes or low income, and empower women facing multiple barriers. Services include employment programmes, training, one-to-one support, coaching, food programmes and community activities. We have recently expanded to serve our community more and we are looking for more ways to fight hunger and food insecurity in Southwark and neighbouring areas. We have launched Peckham Pantry where community members can have access to healthy and affordable groceries as part of their weekly household shopping. We need your excess food supply to meet the needs of an increasing number of members. See link below for more information.
