South Birmingham Homeless
Birmingham, UK
During the cold spell in December 2017, I was volunteering and was able to see the number of homeless people in Birmingham was rising. When volunteering and reaching out to other homelessness charities in Birmingham, I realised that many outreach teams only cover the city centre. I became aware that many of the homeless people in areas south of the centre don’t travel into the city centre to access these services, so I decided to focus on these areas and offer help to people who are not accessing other services in the centre of Birmingham. I distribute donations of food, toiletries and clothing, and try to build friendships as I am doing so. I am also looking to expand into a new project helping people to build a new life, and would like to donate cleaning equipment and household items.
