How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Marks & Spencer has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

AJ Café

Slough, UK

AJ Café CIC: A Professional Community Food Hub in Britwell AJ Café CIC is a dedicated, volunteer-led community lifeline based in the Britwell Hub, Slough. We operate a professional food rescue network, collecting surplus from major supermarkets six days a week. This rescued food is dedicated entirely to providing essential food parcels for local families in need, ensuring that high-quality surplus reaches those who need it most. Our mission is rooted in social and mental wellbeing. At our AJ Café, we serve quality, low-cost breakfasts and paninis using fresh ingredients to support residents through the cost-of-living crisis. This spirit of connection continues through our "Come Dine With Me" project, where community members cook and eat together to build lasting friendships and combat isolation. We are committed to the next generation through our Mentoring and Employment initiatives. Every last Saturday of the month, we provide young people with professional barista training and safety mentoring, giving them the skills and confidence to build a brighter future. From our Monday Warm Space to our crisis meal support, we ensure that no one in our community is left behind, using food to nourish, connect, and empower.

St Michael's Convent Gerarrds Cross

Gerrards Cross, UK

We run a retreat house in Gerrards Cross. We also support several families in need and run a project where we give food to needy people in another centre. So food we get helps us to give to others. We never charge anyone for food, it is gifted to them. We also feel strongly about the amount of food that is wasted and about our environment so anything we can do to help prevent waste and land fill we try to do.
