We aim to target immediate needs and issues surrounding homelessness and addiction for those in need in Southsea and Portsmouth. Many in our city are facing desperate situations, but whatever the circumstances, our aim is to show that there is a way out. We plan to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to improve their situation through the variety of services we offer. We are run by a not for profit charity run by a Manager, Trustees and a wonderful, enthusiastic team of volunteers. We hope we are working to help make Southsea an even more pleasant, safe place to live. The LifeHouse is a practical resource and support centre for those in need living in Portsmouth and Southsea. We have experienced, like-minded, volunteers developing the LifeHouse in providing Sign-Posting Services to vulnerable men and women and targeting issues of homelessness and addiction locally. We aim to create an environment of compassion and care, where people feel they belong, are accepted; and where they can build a sense of self-worth and confidence – a place where we can be generous with our time, energy and practical resources; where we can go the extra mile.

Our school is in the heart of a deprived area within Portsmouth. We are the third most deprived school within Portsmouth and are doing our upmost to provide the best education and care for all our children and families within Portsmouth. Times are very tough for our families who are trying their best to provide for their children. But with the cost of everything it’s very hard for our families to provide the basics, Meaning that adults are missing out on meals, clothes etc themselves. As a school we have set up a family pantry where families can Access and have food hampers made up for them so they can have hot meals and toiletries to wash with. We would be very grateful for surplus supplies of food so we can make sure that children have a hot meal when they are at home in the evenings and weekends. We also like to make sire that families needs are met as much as possible by providing weekend hampers.

Building what is strong not what is wrong, and providing positive ‘life chances’ allowing all to thrive. With our wards in the top 10% for UK deprivation, ‘Real Poverty’ is the reality for most with 92% of service users are now from socio-economic disadvantage. Against this backdrop acting early and offering the ‘Foundations, Flexibility, and Fun’ that is Motiv8’s trademark to those aged 9-19 has never been more important.  Foundations: Ensuring essential service costs that underpin and enable expert youth work are met;  Flexibility: Empowering teams, trusting their judgement so they can help each individual as a person;  Fun: Delivering activities that families tell us they value & young people share they want to be part of.
