Surplus To Purpose (SToP) is an environmental enterprise which specialise in the interception of surplus food destined for waste. This produce may be past Best Before, suffered accidental damage or surplus to requirements. Trained personnel record, process and quality control all intercepted food, to ensure it is safe for consumption. This food is then redistributed through various activities such as; boxes for families, outside catering & events, Pay As You Feel cafes and into schools. SToP intercepts approximately 1,000 tons per year at its headquarters in Leeds - the equivalent of 2.3 million meals per year. A majority of the produce we intercept is perishable items such as fruit & vegetables, and bakery goods. However, we also intercept frozen meat & fish, chilled dairy items and non perishable items such as dry goods, drinks and confectionary. In 2022 SToP aims to become the U.K.s largest caterer of events using intercepted produce. From weddings, to conferences, birthdays and work lunches, we wish to provide environmental alternatives to mainstream providers of contract catering. Our mission is to Feed Bellies Not Bins, whilst educating people on the inhumane amounts of edible food wasted every year in the U.K. All of our spaces are inclusive, and all the food we intercept is available to all. Saint Michael's is here for people who need extra support on top of the day-to-day care they receive from GPs, district nurses, hospital teams and nursing home staff. Without the hospice, these people could be left to face the complex issues and forgotten challenges of terminal illness alone. We care for people with a variety of terminal illnesses, including heart failure, respiratory illnesses and neurological conditions; as well as cancer. We care in people's homes, hospitals, care homes and at our hospice. Saint Michael's believes there are a number of things that make our care special: •We have more expert staff and trained volunteers dedicated to supporting people with terminal illness than any other local organisation •Our team take time to understand and get to know each person who uses our services so the care we offer can be built around what is important to that person •Our care extends to support the people our patients love •We treat people as equals •We encourage people to participate as fully as possible in any decision that affects them or their care •We respect the choices people make about the way they live their lives and the care they want to receive •The care we offer is not dependent on a person's ability to pay Recent feedback demonstrates what people think of our services: •More than 90% of the people using our services felt well-cared for •95% of carers felt we made a positive difference to the life of their loved one •The industry regulator rated the care we offer as Outstanding We are a local charity that serves a population of nearly 160,000 people living across the Harrogate district. We are responsive to the needs of this community and dependent on their support for our success. We can only care for as many people as we have the funds to help. Currently we spend £5million a year providing local hospice care and training others to offer hospice standard care. Around eighty per cent of this work is funded by the individuals, companies, trusts and foundations who support us. We need your financial support to be able to continue to care for our community.

We are a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation, founded in 2005. We rent a venue in the Wingate Methodist church in Armley, Leeds. Our objective is to improve the well-being of our members including families from different nationalities who speak Russian. However, everybody in the local community is welcome to join us. We organise social, cultural, and educational activities for families with young children on low income, families who feel isolated and are not integrated into society due to different reasons. We are a small group that are run by volunteers; there is no paid workers working for us. The cost of living crisis is affecting all of us. As part of our activities, we run different projects throughout the year that teach our members how to budget on small incomes, how to cook nutritious food with ingredients that are easily available. Sometimes members bring some ingredients from home that they cook and eat together. However, we believe families would benefit a lot if we receive some food donations from some local supermarkets.
