We intercept and make sense of food surplus. Educate and empower people to live food secure lives. Redistributing to primary schools, families and those that need it. We also offer education to make the food system fair and sustainable.

Fill cupboards not landfill ! With the cost of living rising dramatically, we aim to provide members with a good selection of affordable prices saving food from landfill. Members can choose 12 items at a set affordable price of £3.50. Unlike a food bank we are open to all. We source our food from surplus, and so we provide a simple solution to wasting less through the sharing of good quality food. People can also donate surplus food or drop in and get some food when they need it. We receive deliveries from Fareshare, Rethink, Morrisons, Manning Stainton, One Stop, Pets at Home, Arla, Gregs and other local groups and organisations. We are part of the Leeds Food Aid Network (FAN) and the Hubbub/ Co-op Community Fridge Network. You can find us at St James’ Manston church hall off Church Lane LS15 8JB. Thursdays 2-4pm and 6-7pm Fridays 9-11am We have a drop in on Thursdays in the church next door where members can enjoy refreshments while they wait for their shopping slot. All our sessions are registered as warm spaces. In the last 6 months, we have provided almost 7000 meals to over 300 individual members with a total of almost 1000 beneficiaries. Of these, 66 households had pensioners, 65 households had people with disabilities and 174 households were families with children. We are an independent foodbank who provide food and other essential items to people in the Castleford area. We provide on average 25 food parcels a week feeding 50-60 people The food we provide include many essentials like bread, milk, tinned vegetables and meat or fish. We also include toiletries and the all important toilet roll. Within the parcel we aim to provide enough food for a minimum of 3 days whether its an individual, a couple or a family of 4 or more. We provide each person with 3 parcels a year and limit them to 1 a month however if we know a family is in need we will give them more. At Christmas we work with local schools to provide Christmas hampers to families who may have to go without the little luxuries we enjoy. Over the last 5 years we have given out over 55 hampers every year. In these hampers we pride ourselves in providing everything but the turkey. Each child in the family receives a gift wrapped selection box and each parent / carer a box of chocolates. Also in the hampers are boxes of biscuits, cheese biscuits, mince pies, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The hampers are gift wrapped and delivered to their door.
