How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Marks & Spencer has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Ronald McDonald House Southampton

Southampton, UK

Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent registered charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with sick children in hospital across the UK. Families can stay free of charge for as long as their child is in hospital and they need us. Ronald McDonald House Southampton is in the grounds of Southampton General Hospital, so families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, while continuing to maintain a degree of ‘normal life’ and reducing emotional and financial strain. Our four-storey purpose-built House has 53 en-suite family bedrooms. There are fully-equipped kitchens, dining areas, laundry facilities and a lounge on every floor, plus additional communal rooms, including a children’s playroom. In addition to being just a stone’s throw from their child’s bedside, all our rooms have telephones linked directly to the children’s wards, allowing families to keep in contact with the hospital at all times. Our House is more than just a place to stay. We offer comfort, support and a safe environment where families can interact and share their experiences. We encourage extended family and friends to come and visit, and we host events to help keep them strong and for the siblings to get involved. In 2015 we supported over 1,200 families, helping them to stay closer together when their child was in hospital. “I will never be able to thank the House enough. They didn’t just give us somewhere to stay - they gave us somewhere to feel comfortable, to unwind, to relax and be together as a family.” - Kirsty
