Brixton Soup Kitchen is a community space for homeless people or people in desperate need. The Soup Kitchen provides food, drink and companionship in a warm and friendly environment on a weekly basis. About Us... We have served over 345,000 meals either eaten on site or distributed during food drop offs and outreach sessions. This could not have been possible without the donations and support from local community members as well as local businesses. We organise for trained professionals to deliver one to one consultation sessions with our clients, helping to re-house people, assisting people to claim benefits they rightfully deserve as well as back to work training. Brixton Soup Kitchen is for the homeless and other members of the community who fall below the poverty line. Since starting the Brixton Soup Kitchen, we have received food donations from Pret A Manager, Greggs, Nandos, Satay Brixton, Marks and Spencer. We now work with Iceland, Waitrose, Sainsburys depots. We have had media support from The Voice Newspaper, Channel 4 and The South London Press who awarded us with the 'Our Hero's Award' in April 2013. The word about the good work at Brixton Soup Kitchen has been spreading and we welcome approximately 45 visitors per day, 5 days a week. We engage with over 30 homeless people every day from in and around London. Moving Forward... Our soup kitchen is now is working towards becoming a recognised support centre for the community as a whole. We hope to add more facilities to the already popular centre including job searching support, advice on housing and benefits and a night shelter for those in dire need. However in order to achieve this, a lot of support will be needed. We still need to do more, and your support will help us reach out to more homeless people with information and food packs that will provide a week's worth of food at a time. In particular, we need help funding a van so that we can pick up more food.

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary sits on 53 acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of Brentwood, Essex. The sanctuary currently cares for over 500 sick, unwanted and mistreated animals. Our mission is to help animals in need and provide education and awareness for humane behaviour towards all animals around the world. Our animals live out their lives at Hopefield in peace, surrounded by love and receiving the best care.

Havering volunteer centre (HVC) is the only licenced Volunteer Centre operating in Havering and works within the recognised Quality Accreditation Scheme operated by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) HVC will never underestimate the importance or power of volunteering in the community and strives to change the perception and understanding of what it means to be a volunteer in the London Borough of Havering. This past year during Covid-19 HVC has been instramental in supporting the community with emergency food, delivering medications and medical prescriptions, helping those who are alone and isolated with check in and chat care calls. Recently HVC and our wonderful volunteers have been supporting two vaccination sites in Havering standing shoulder to shoulder with the NHS getting our residents vaccinated and safe. We welcomed them with a cheerful smile and chatted to those who had not seen anyone for many months living on thier own. We made this expereince more bearable for them by being there and offering a virtual arm arund their sholders. We have kept the Secret Garden for the blind open all through this pandemic keeping a green outside space avaiable to come for peace and clean air. The garden is filled with sensory plants with different feel, smells and textures, lots of wildlife and birdsong. We have a memory tree to reflect and thinks about those we have lost and to look to the future with hope. Now more than ever, volunteers have been needed to help our communities. Without HVC hundreds of people would have gone hungry, without emergency essential or a friendly calls. The power of volunteering is enormous and the differences volunteers make on a daily basis is very humbling. HVC is also an award winning centre of volunteering excellence having been recognised on several occasions for the work undertaken in the community. HVC have achieved various nominations, awards and accreditations from the Mayor of London, NCVO and the Queen’s Award. HVC champions the voluntary sector and volunteering by connecting, representing and supporting voluntary organisations. Our services include training, consultancy, information, resources and toolkits on governance, campaigning, strategy, impact and volunteer recruitment and retention. HVC aims to support and encourage volunteering, promoting equality of access to volunteer opportunities for all in Havering. HVC is determined that the services they undertake strengthens the Voluntary Sector in Havering and aims to support all voluntary and community groups to achieve their delivery of service by engaging the right volunteers to enable sustainability and consistency of service delivery that benefits the community. HVC is a user-friendly organisation, with expertise & knowledge of voluntary action in havering.
