The Salvation Army exists to support individuals and families within the community to thrive. We offer practical support (food, clothing, gas / electric), emotional and employment support to those in need. We hope to keep up with the growing demand within the community for more support. We don't wish to be a quick fix to a problem, but to equip people to find a permanent solution.

We currently support people with Learning Disabilities and/or complex needs in a learning environment where they take a lead in growing various fruits and veg both indoors and outdoors. Currently we are in the process of designing and creating a Sensory garden with a smells garden, a touch & feel garden, Water, edibles etc... This is a project that Will take considerable time, energy and resources especially in regards to Money, Materials, Manpower and will develop into a larger garden with the ultimate aim of providing a pleasant environment for all with an especial emphasis being an idyllic place for people with Autism to come enjoy and explore. We are located in the heart of Hereford just a short walk from the city centre and want the success at the hands of our service user's to be taken to a new and different level. Some of our people have attended this one project for 35 years and are very much a part of all we do and all we achieve we achieve Together. We want our garden A Place to GrOw to truly catch Every aspect of Growth whether that be the obvious of growing food for sale or for use in our on-site cafe which again is service user led or to GrOw in Confidence, Independence, Happiness, Spirit, Capacity, Skills, Knowledge or in Security we want to create an environment where ALL can come and know that there is always A Place to GO for them where they can be themselves and know that they belong. A Place to GrOw is an adventure and a place of excitement for all who desire to go on a journey. We have aquired an old pub, over 50 years old, which needs a lot of work done to it so that it can be made suitable for the community to use. For example, electrics, plumbing and decorating. It is hoped that once it is fully open it will be used for classes, private hire, community gathering, tea afternoons and so forth. The building is located in a central position for the whole community. We have a lot of local support, particularly among the elderly who are embracing some of the work themselves. Already a kitchenette is in the process of being fitted, which will enable it to be used for the very popular tea club we run. We also use the front office to help people find out information and contact the local councillor, Police and other services. We are a registered charitable company and we are in the process of registering with the Charities Commission. One of the things we desperately need funding for is for the larger kitchen, this would mean so much for us as it would mean that we can run some larger community functions, which in turn would encourage the community into the building. The building has three floors, a cellar, the ground floor (which is what we are focusing on) and the top floor which was once used as a flat.
