Lidl Bath

New data reveals that 14% of families have experienced moderate to severe food insecurities, in 2020-2021 compared to 11.5% pre-covid, this is known as hidden hunger. Hidden Hunger Bath was founded by two women concerned with the struggles of local families in accessing nutritious food due to low or no income. Hidden Hunger Bath is a small group of volunteers with aims to collect surplus food from food registered businesses in Bath and assist those suffering from hidden hunger to provide fresh food to their families.

Genesis Trust has been working to alleviate poverty and hardship for local people in Bath since 1995. We work with people struggling with everyday life – mainly as a result of homelessness, addiction, poverty, isolation or disability. We provide the practical support they need to get through today, and the emotional support to look forwards to tomorrow. We do this with compassion, skill and with an attitude of hospitality to all. We run interlinking projects across Bath, which help people meet their needs for immediate crisis support, food, furniture, purposeful activity and one-to-one support and guidance. Genesis Trust was founded on a Christian vision and is driven by Christian values, and this ethos remains at the core of our work. However, the project exists to serve anyone in need, irrespective of their faith, background or gender. The particular Christian values which underpin our work are love, justice, compassion, truth and a non-judgemental attitude. We have built a strong relationship with all the churches across Bath. We also receive support and donations from the general public, local businesses and schools who appreciate the work we do in Bath. We are entirely self-funded, and receive no statutory funding.

It is widely known that some of the biggest threats of aging are hunger, isolation and loss of independence. Here at CURO we have a range of community-based programs in BANES that are dedicated to addressing these issues. By providing leadership, education and advocacy support, we empower local residents to strengthen their communities. On Tuesday 1 August, Curo will be launching a special project to bring food and support to rural communities. The Pantry is a food bank and so much more, bringing much-needed help to hard-to-reach customers as the Cost of Living crisis continues. We’d love people from the local community to join us for the launch of The Pantry at Curo’s Community Room in Welton Vale, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Somerset, BA3 2BG, 10am-2pm.
