Our Mission At CGMI Sunderland, our mission is to Support Underprivileged Families: Provide essential resources and assistance to families facing financial hardships. Aid the Elderly and Disabled: Offer services and support to improve the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Empower Youth: Facilitate educational and recreational programs to help young people develop vital life skills and achieve their potential. Current Initiatives Food Bank Purpose: To combat hunger and food insecurity within our community. Services: We provide food parcels, hot meals, and nutritional support to individuals and families in need. Impact: Our food bank plays a crucial role in alleviating food poverty and ensuring that no one in Sunderland goes hungry. Youth Mentorship Program Purpose: To guide and support young people in their personal and academic growth. Services: We offer mentorship, life skills workshops, and recreational activities designed to inspire and develop future leaders. Impact: This program empowers youth to reach their full potential, instilling confidence and providing them with positive role models. Centrepoint is the UKs leading charity working to tackle the issue of youth homelessness. We have accommodation services in London, Bradford and the North East and support more than 8,500 homeless 16-25 year olds each year. Centrepoint realises that it takes more than just a bed to put an end to homelessness – so we work with each of our young people to ensure that they have access to education and training opportunities, become physically and mentally healthy and gain the essential life skills needed to escape homelessness for good. Centrepoint began working in the North East over 10 years ago, and opened our first purpose built accommodation in Sunderland in 2012. We are responsible for delivering Sunderland’s entire young person’s homelessness pathway meaning that we provide over 170 beds for homeless young people every single night. Last year we supported more than 800 homeless young people in the area. To make a lasting difference to the lives of local young people we want to mobilise the local community and businesses to get involved! We have lots of opportunities from an exciting calendar of fundraising events to regular volunteering roles, there are so many ways for you and your colleagues to get involved! We are really grateful for any donations we receive, with more funding we could improve the lives of more disadvantaged young people across the North East through our support model of prevention, accommodation and move-on services. The young people that Centrepoint supports often come to us with very few personal possessions, so any donations of toiletries, food and other necessities are really appreciated. Hopespring is award winning charity specialising in delivering quality services to children, young people and their families and providing therapeutic care. We have two Therapeutic Schools across four sites and an Ofsted Registered Family Centre. Every week we provide food for care experienced young people living in Sunderland who have just recently moved on to independent living. Every Christmas we provide a good quality and thoughtful Christmas present for every cared for experienced baby, child and young person. On average we provide 800 presents and 200 luxury Christmas food hampers for our care experienced young people every year.
